GPT Researcher is an open-source autonomous research agent. A planner agent generates sub-questions, execution agents crawl and summarize sources in parallel, and a publisher aggregates everything into a structured, sourced report, over the web and your local documents, with MCP support. Carnegie Mellon's DeepResearchGym evaluation found it outperformed Perplexity, OpenAI, OpenDeepSearch and HuggingFace on citation quality, report quality and coverage. 27,000+ GitHub stars, Apache-2.0 licensed, can be installed as a Claude Skill, with both lightweight and production frontends.
